General Check-Up

Some Singaporeans may only make a dental appointment upon facing certain issues such as toothaches, gum bleeding, and stained teeth.

But the truth is, Singaporeans who want to maintain great teeth throughout their lifetime must visit a dentist regularly.

Our teeth and gums are vulnerable to decay and damage because of the daily exposure to bacteria and wear and tear while eating and drinking.

A regular dental check-up can help you avoid future problems and keep your teeth in good shape.

What to expect during a routine dental check up?

Check-up

During a routine dental checkup, we will begin with a thorough assessment of your dental health.

During the consultation, we look out for,

  • Any dental-linked systemic issues;
  • Your dental hygiene;
  • Any tooth decay;
  • Erosion of enamel due to teeth grinding or clenching;
  • Risk areas such as the likelihood of cracked or chipped teeth and broken crowns, which may impair the ability to function.

Scale and Polish

During the dental check-up, you may get a scaling and polishing procedure done to remove plaque and tartar (hardened plaque).

It’s especially helpful if your brushing hasn’t perfectly cleaned out hard-to-reach areas of your teeth.

During scaling, we will scrape off tartar from the teeth, including below the gum line if necessary.

Polishing follows, which smooths the surfaces of the teeth, making it harder for plaque to adhere.

This procedure helps prevent gum disease, tooth decay, and can improve breath odour.

Flouride Application

We’ll also apply a layer of fluoride directly to the teeth.

This helps to strengthen tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay.

It can also help to reverse early signs of tooth decay.

The treatment is quick, and easy, and can be done after cleaning and scaling to provide additional protection against cavities.
